Trump is incorrect on NATO. Allies raised their defense budgets starting in 2014 after Putin’s annexation of Crimea. He is misleading the public.

Most actually increased their spending. Still, only the US, UK, and 7 E European nations are meeting or exceeding their obligations under the treaty according to the NATO budgetary documents. Before that, only the US, Greece, and UK were meeting the obligation.
