The American Thoracic Society issued guidelines Monday that suggest COVID-19 patients with pneumonia get doses of the anti-malaria drug.

a) shared decision-making is possible, b) data can be collected for interim comparisons of patients who received hydroxychloroquine versus those who did not, c) the illness is sufficiently severe to warrant investigational therapy, and d) the drug is not in short supply.

That's exactly what they said about William Haseltine during his cancer research, his AIDS research... and he turned out to be right in both cases (findings that are now disputed by exactly nobody). Doesn't mean he's definitely right, but it means you shouldn't write him off.

The bit I understand is that Hydroxychloroquinine is untested for this condition. However, its cheap, safe & immuno suppresses when we know the acute phase of covid-19 involves a cytokine storm destroying peoples lungs. And - this is key - we don't have anything else! Try it FFS!
