We need to get at the root of this crisis and ensure that Black women receive the high-quality, respectful, and affordable care they want and need in health care settings, in their homes, and in their communities.

- The Black infant mortality rate is the highest of any racial or ethnic group even after controlling for risk factors. ...and these are 2 data points from a constellation of evidence that tells a story of inequity. This is avoidable. This is solvable.

My thoughts are with the Monterey Park community and the families of the victims of last night’s horrific act of violence. The term"American exceptionalism" can be associated with many things. Unfortunately, one of them is mass shootings. We must do more to address gun violence.

Excellent and important report by on racial/ethnic disparities in education. RI's K-12 system is underperforming across nearly every district, but the outcomes for disadvantaged students are particularly alarming and generally worse than the disparity in other states

Would it get your attention if I told you that lack of child care access costs our economy $1.36 BILLION annually? Now what if I told you that this is the actual figure for the state of Utah alone. Child care is the backbone of a functioning economy.

And so many other disadvantages. Socio economic pressures from their college classmates (spending behavior e.g.) structural inequities in college, financial and family pressures at home. Lack of support in college.
Quote Tweet
There are large gaps in college completion by race and ethnicity among Rhode Island public high school graduates. Students of Color often arrive at college with academic potential but less academic preparation and social capital than other students. #edchatRI

Middle Eastern, North African, Arab + Iranian communities have advocated for decades for to create a separate category for themselves. Bc Arab + Iranian students aren't demographically identified, they are often overlooked+ underrepresented in equity initiatives.
