By any standards this morning’s climate event was rather strange. No questions, no answers on key points, no mention publicly of the sacking of Claire O’Neill. Many experts here left bemused and not a little worried about

The two key tasks for government are 1) do the international diplomacy well and 2) get the country demonstrably on track to its legally-binding target. First needs FCO, DfID and No10 - second needs Housing, Transport, BEIS, Treasury... and No10. At least

UK government says it will bring forward ban on petrol/diesel car sales from 2040 to 2035 (as briefed earlier to Sun), not 2030 as some have called for. Main news ahead of Johnson summit on Tues w David Attenborough & Italian PM. No briefing for journalists on Tues

The govt versus Claire O'Neill fallout continues, and it's not pretty. “Boris doesn’t really know anything about climate change. He pays lip service, but hasn't got a clue," says source close to O'Neill. Via

Yes, it's wrong. There is virtually no chance that we could cross some threshold where temperatures rise uncontrollably. I wrote about this recently.

This is from . It says my prostate cancer isn't a joking matter, then proceeds to make it one, while attempting an entirely fatuous connection. Contest my views by all means. But this is not acceptable.

I’m told that she crushed an awful lot of toes. UK now has an even bigger mountain to climb for . So far it’s been a paltry effort compared with the magnificent French diplomatic onslaught Pre Paris.

Big govt announcement still on for Tuesday. So I'm guessing we'll find out over the weekend who the replacement is. There are at least five names doing the rumour-round. Most but not all are serving MPs or Peers. Whoever it is, still needs whole govt to deliver
