      Also one can't very well make a principled objection to correlational evidence because "correlational", and then claim correlation evidence lends itself to ready causal interpretation (e.g., US time series, x-sectional regression, etc)

      I'm not saying you specifically (necessarily), but if you wholly reject correlation evidence, can't use it to make comparative claims for US vs OECD and the like.

      We have different priors, but I don't have banket objection to correlation evidence. Depends on potential for confounding, other lines of evidence, etc.

          Because, if you haven't noticed, the BMI distribution has shifted right and this is almost certainly overwhelmingly the result of environmental influence.
