    There's a long tradition in this country of breaking international law "in a specific and limited way." To give just one example, it's what Tony Blair did in Iraq. Happily, the consequences were specific and limited to a few hunded thousand dead.

    Anthony Huber was the one to run up on the shooter last night and was shot in the chest and left to bleed out by the cops. He leaves behind his daughter and his girlfriend. His initial reaction was to try to protect others and he lost his life for that. Rest in power, comrade. 😭

    I was in the SWP from 1998 to 2013, and really detest the party now. But anyone else who was in the party during this period can tell you: everything this guy is saying here is pure fantasy. No one ever went on about “Jewish power” or gave lectures bashing Jewish people.

    Antisemitism on the far left is so insidious. I joined the SWP when I was 14 in 2001, it was my first real introduction to politics, after growing up in a non-voter household. I was a child, obsessed with 9/11 which had just happened, and was desperate for an explanation 1/

    I trained as a journalist in the early 1990s at City University and did a bit of media law as part of that, taught by the late great Marcel Berlins. It was mostly about libel law, and how stacked it was against journalists and in favour of the rich and powerful.

    I think one of the reasons the Guardian has been struggling is its unshakeable focus on platforming middle class voices and interests, to a public that, increasingly, can no longer aspire to being middle class. I think we'd be worse off without it, but it could bear some variety.
