Hello @CityofReno take note. My family was pushed out when landlord raised rent by $400 and we were homeless in this city. We were lucky we finally found housing, but other families are not. We can do better.

It will be fascinating to see how this works out. San Francisco needs it more than most cities, but the lessons that will be learned here will translate worldwide.

I witness the burgeoning gentrification here in Manhattan EVERY DAY. former facilities of huge businesses=empty, couldn't afford the commercial rents. This speaks the staggering disparity of of wealth in America.

Mass execution of landlords?

I live in Denver where a skyrocketing housing market could make us a mini SF within a decade. This square footage tax would mean a $600-$1000/yr increase in property taxes for even a modest 1000-2000 sqft home. Not saying that's insurmountable, but pretty hefty increase...
