King George III: I know what we can do. Lets ban slavery in the Colonies and cut of a major source of income for Britain. Colonists: You are insane if you think we'll let you stop making money for Britain over here. We'll go to war first.

I disagree with the stated premise that American slavery caused the Revolution. American colonists that were slaveholders were however responsible for a chain of events leading up to taxes affecting most colonists and restrictions on land speculation harmful to some leaders.

...you didn't read it, did you? Try the part about 1619, and the slave trade and British relationship pre-1776.
-
Pre-1776, America was the property of Britain and ruled by Britain. It was the British military, as well as the French and Spanish, that conquered the Western Hemisphere. All that the American Revolution did was to end monarchical rule by divine right. That's it, the whole of it.

First pic is NYT 1619 thesis. 2nd is map of abolition of slavery by year. If NYT wants to prove their thesis they're gonna have to explain why slavery was nearly ubiquitous and yet we're "exceptional" as they state.pic.twitter.com/W0uoqcFXpr
