Good piece. I think one would “choose” to be stabbed over being shot in the same way it is “better” to be hacked to death than to be sliced to death. But everything else, strong yes.

But a knife has limited range. This is a situation where a taser is a better solution. Well, assuming the cop is trained well enough to know the difference between their taser and their glock.

Tasers are slower and not quite as reliable. I think we can argue about whether it's acceptable to take the risk with a victim's life, but we shouldn't act like it's an easy tradeoff to decide.

Like providing clean needles to drug addicts, we also need policy providing sanitary knives to children who partake in knife-fighting, horse play after school.

Guns are inherently more lethal so by shooting the girl, the police officer increased the likelihood that ANYONE would die. If he didn’t shoot, the knife wounds would almost certainly be less lethal and the likelihood that anyone would die would be lower. /s
