    Thread. While not as important as heat stroke or crop failures, overheating trains is a reminder that there will be innumerable little failures as society is pushed beyond the historical climate regime that our infrastructure was designed for.

    Overheating due to current temps on my ICE train . We're stopping 10-15 extra mins to let the engine cool down. will increase frequency of such events. Infrastructure in rich EU not ready. Imagine how hard poor countries will be hit.

    Tired and frustrated. Computers suck. I am seriously wondering if my family and I wouldn't be better off if I went to do something other than climate science with the next part of my career. Anyone want to disagree, or maybe share a cute photo?

    WMO regional climate centre for Europe issued Climate Watch for for the next week. Temperatures 3°C-6°C above average over central Europe and 1°C to 3°C elsewhere. Widespread daily maximum above 30°C. Follow advice from national met services. Map

    It may be naively optimistic, but over the next 10-15 years I expect to see more Republicans offering their own proposals to address climate change as a changing reality makes it increasingly untenable to simply ignore the issue.

    Some stats so far: Close to 1 million stripe graphics downloaded with visitors from 180+ countries. Over a hundred TV meteorologists joining for to use the graphics on their live broadcasts.

    This week, a multi-day heat wave will challenge all-time high temperature records for any month of the year. Temperatures in Spain, France, and Italy could reach as high as 40-42°C (104-108°F) -- about 10-15°C (18-27°F) above normal, remarkable for June.

    There are few truly black & white moral issues, but tormenting children and denying their basic human needs is flat out evil. The current US program for dealing with migrant children is an abomination.

    Each graphic provides a simple summary of climate change, with each stripe depicting temperatures during a single year. The past is on the left, and 2018 is on the right. Blue colors indicate colder years and red colors are warmer years. Warm (red) years are becoming common.
