Nilda is a Honduran mother who came to the US w/her 2 y/o son, Kayden. They were separated, held at five detention centers, & only reunited two months later. They're seeking asylum, but face heavy financial & legal hurdles. This is their story:

Nilda—our client—went through hell. She fled violence in her country. She hung onto a train for 17 hours, her two year old son tied to her by a sweater. She was detained. He was taken. They were separated for 2 months. Now she, and thousands like her, need help .

If I had been born in a different country, to another family, this could be my story. It could just as easily be your story. I’ve made another donation to support the vital work of & hope you will consider doing the same. 2019 is the year we change the story.

Please read this thread. There are few shelter options for migrants in Tijuana, who are forced to wait by the border because Trump and Stephen Miller have put in place illegal barriers to them applying for asylum. Now police want to close this shelter, putting people in danger.

Across the country, kids were reporting sexual assaults in immigrant children’s shelters. One kid, Alex, decided to come forward. There was surveillance video. But Alex's case wasn't investigated. His isn’t the only one.

Dear - The children were in U.S. government custody. As such, our government took on in loco parentis responsibilities. Legally, the government WAS “the parents” at the times of their deaths. Get your facts straight before you come at me. Plus maybe pray. TY.

When Nilda came into the country, a CBP officer took her son away & said "This is what happens when you come to my country.” THIS IS OUR SYSTEM. It's a calculated, intentional effort to attack immigrants. We deny them their humanity & put every obstacle up to stop them staying.

Right to counsel =/= guaranteed representation. That's the difference in the immigration system. Attempting to navigate w/o rep makes it significantly harder.
