Nope, in WW1 a lot of officers were commissioned from the ranks due to numbers required. Post-war there was the phenomenon of unemployed working class officers trying to fit back in. DH Lawrence alluded to it in Lady C’s Lover with Mellors the gamekeeper being a former officer.
