This looks like the mk.2 with 360 degree gun rotation as well as attitude adjustment capability. The mk.1 could only fire forwards which meant providing cover fire whilst retreating was very tricky!

I think you may be confusing that with the mk-2a? The Mk2 had a 270° arc of fire. The 2a was the 'Italian export' who requested it could point backwards...

Is it true that the A-10 Type-C "Thunderbolt" is the latest version with 5 times faster firing rate?

Most people just use an adaptor for previous amunition and so it's artificially limited. However one should always beware of non-complient, counterfit type-c hardware purchases, things can go bang when you least expect it.
