Seems an over reaction, but I suppose a photo credit isn't a totally unreasonable request. That should be enough surely? Not like you are selling their work as your own.

Ah the French are well known for their humour... Oh wait no that's not right. I worked at Toulouse and know this is true... There were the odd exceptions. Technically does he have permission to photograph the aircraft as all of them are copyright designs along with the paintwork

I don’t think you an assume that because an image is on Flickr it is “open source”, unless it specifically states it is.
