I believe they store the F15s like this as well. They clip together like sticklebricks.

See the balloon on the underside of the planes? They pump air out of cabin and into those balloons to help the planes fly upside down.

Which is also why iceman chooses the smaller plane so the balloon has more effect

Some people incorrectly think one F15 is inverted but they are actually both in a vertical climb. The Canberra is above them, making a low level pass at 285,000 feet.
