Hi Paul, The Chinook S unloading the Chinook L is no joking matter! it's a very dangerous and complex operation, the pilots need great skill to match the load lifting winch speed to that of the spinny thing speed. This can take years to master.

Thank you for your kind response. I have no doubt the operation you describe is dangerous and requires great skill. But I don't think this image is of one helicopter unloading another. This is simply a perspective effect like they use in movies (like Lord of the Rings). 1/

Here's why I say this. 1. The rotors of the larger h. are rotating, indicated by the motion blur. 2. The cable from the smaller h. is passing through the blade path of the larger one. They can't occupy the same space at the same time. I have great respect for your pilots' 2/
