Yes, at times, we have had to take a step back, due to the decisions of global powers, or the powerful men and groups within our communities, but we’ve never been silent. The world simply wasn’t listening. That will not be the case anymore.
In every home in Afghanistan, there lives an Abarzan, a superwoman. Every woman who fights for the right of her children to go to school is a superwoman. Every girl who dares to go to school or choose her own attire is a superwoman.
Every one of my sisters who continue 2 work and earn their own income despite harassment from intellectual Taliban and violence from armed Taliban, is a superwoman. Every woman, who quietly saves money so that someday she can file 4 divorce and leave an abusive marriage is a SW.
Every mother, who secretly takes birth control without her husband’s support, so she has control over her own body, is a superwoman.
Every woman, who seems to have given up and give into violence and abuse, but writes and thinks about freedom, is a superwoman. No matter which corner of this heartbroken country she lives in, to me, every Afghan woman is a superwoman.”
