i’d also add that having gear is in no way a requirement to making professional music. contrary to popular belief, all of this can be done on a computer with some basic software. it just happens to be a niche interest of mine that is quite practical for my job.

obviously sampling known works is cool but this could definitely change how music is made. imagine adding a prompt to generate a very specific synth or a feeling i assume it would be quite difficult to do in real-time though

google-research.github.io/seanet/musiclm this is honestly really cool. if there’s a way to feed it note data, you have the most capable synth probably ever. being able to apply a musical style to your own chord progressions would be so useful. why sample if you can just generate it?
