That still doesn’t make it bad design. The problem is ppl conflate things competitive players value with good design and vice versa.
But games are meant to be fun and losing a game because you rolled taunt or your opponent rolled divine shield is not fun. It is like implosion.

Ya I feel you. It's possible maul wasn't intended to see competitive play (impossible to know for sure) but as long as there's a major section of the player base that enjoys those cards they will be printed and some will inevitable see play even if they weren't intended to.
