My latest Storify about the dynamics of the Gater movement, "There is no Virtue Without Terror": https://storify.com/Quinnae_Moon/there-is-no-virtue-without-terror … I added some notes.
I've talked to Gaters, & they all make the same excuses: "no choice, not illegal, right to voice our opinion." But does it improve things?
Problem being, they won't turn the water back on—couldn't even if they wanted to. Letter campaigns don't convince advertises to run new ads.
More like a hostage situation: "Give us a platform for our conspiracy theories, fire the following SJWs, and we'll turn the water back on."
That makes the logic of their advertiser tactics: "surrender your platform to us… or else!" There's a word for that, but boycott ain't it.
One of GG's more asinine justifications is that publications "gave us no choice" by banning discussion about Zoe Quinn's sex life.
Polygon is a website for the renaissance gamer. That's a fancy way of saying we write about Game of Thrones sometimes. But usually games.

So @firehawk32 was kind enough to do a brief analysis of the articles #GamerGate says claimed gamers were dead: http://pixietalksgamergate.wordpress.com/gamers-are-dead-article-analysis/ …
They're brigading them pretty hard - maybe drown some of that out with support?
GG is so anti censorship they've been attacking @Borkowskinews and @VGS_640 for having the audacity to want to speak with me
Everyone is putting so much on the line. Can you please follow this link and tell them, you support Andy Borkowski? http://www.640toronto.com/gordharris/
Everybody - I need your help to end Gamergate. They're following the same playbook and threatening a radio station that interviewed me.
@MammonMachine At that point, it's just a demonstration of power. "Look what I can get away with saying, even when everyone knows better."
And everyone knows it because all of their plans are on public forums and the whole strategy hinged on arguing like you don't know this?
it's just too absurd. If they aren't harassing, they're gaslighting victims saying the harassers don't represent them, and do nothing else.
For those actually concerned with ethics in journalism I'll say what I said a month ago: Your movement is in another castle.
And again, even if the threats themselves did not come from GG per se, these responses damn the movement.
Moral courage right now does not mean catering to a group that's attacking a radio station for giving a voice to women they've threatened.
And that is an acceptable, mature, excusable/understandable response to the "Gamers are Over" articles? I'm sorry, but get real.
By people threatening our livelihoods, families, promising to make us live in fear, slandering us with false criminal allegations?
I saw someone refer to gamers feeling "dehumanised"-- well what about us gamers who actually *were* dehumanised by a 2 month hate mob?
