Today is Election Day! So many brave men and women sacrificed their lives for our democracy, lets honor them and exercise our right to vote.

It was great to to visit the Kilpatrick Renaissance Senior Living today and talk to some people about why I'm running for Attorney General. I plan to stand up and protect consumers against big utilities. Now more than ever we should exercise our rights and go out and vote!

It was an honor to be able to attend the opening of the new Field of Hope at Wells High School. This new field will provide opportunities for students to participate in sports, and will also help to combat violence.

Thank you Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America for your Candidate distinction. As Attorney General I will continue to fight to limit and ban assault weapons in Illinois.

Campaigning this morning at Millennium Station, we're reminding everyone to vote today or tomorrow. Time is growing short to stand up for our democracy and against Donald Trump and the special interests. As Attorney General, I will be your lawyer in this fight. #ilag

Thanks to everyone at the Tinley Park Irish Parade for the warm (and sunny) welcome today. It was a great opportunity to connect with new and old friends while celebrating Irish heritage. #ilag

I was thrilled to join my friend, Senior Pastor Dan Willis, for services at Lighthouse Church of All Nations in Alsip. Such an inspiring house of worship! We were reminded of our obligation to serve God and others by being "oaks of righteousness." #ilag

When a candidate needs sustenance before the last get-out-the-vote push, there's no better place to get it than Valois in Hyde Park. The meal was great, made even better by the friendly staff and the warm family setting. Remember to stand up for our democracy Tuesday. Vote! #ilag

I had the honor of speaking this morning at Apostolic Church of God, led by Dr. Byron T. Brazier. In these troubled times for our nation, we remember the prophet Isaiah, who represents volunteerism and readiness to carry out the Lord's work. Let us learn from his example. #ilag

Thank you to the 49th Ward Dems for the chance this morning to speak at their get-out-the-vote meeting. Together, we can defeat the unconstitutional policies of Donald Trump, end pay-to-play politics, and breathe new life into our democracy. #ilag

Who needs red-light cameras? Pay-to-play Sen. Raoul, that's who. He's taken $20,000 in campaign money from the red-light camera industry. Here I am at 31st and King to say that as Attorney General, I will work for drivers when they are cheated by shady ticketing practices.

The latest utility cash infusion for Sen. Raoul brings his total to more than $78,000. That doesn't count the secret donors to the Super PAC running ads falsely attacking Pat Quinn. Voters need an Attorney General who stands with them, not the special interests. #ilag

Read it and weep: Ameren Illinois and its PAC checked in yesterday with $11,000 for Sen. Raoul. And last week he got $15,000 from Peoples Gas. The big utilities want a pal as Attorney General. They know that Pat Quinn will work for the ratepayers. Let's end pay to play. #ilag

Former State Senator Miguel del Valle said has fought unjust rate hikes by utilities. He said: "I know that Pat Quinn can build on that record and he is the last line of defense to make sure that ratepayers get the protection we need." #ilag

My thanks to former State Senator Miguel del Valle, who joined me today outside the offices of Peoples Gas. We spoke about how utilities are engaged in pay to play with donations to Sen. Raoul. As Attorney General, I will look out for ratepayers, not the utilities. #ilag

Today I joined students and faculty of Benito Juarez Community Academy for their walkout to call for sensible gun regulation and an end to violence. Students knelt in memory of the victims of Parkland and others who lost their lives to gun violence. #NeverAgain

Thank you and @jsajuniorstate for allowing me the opportunity to speak about why I’m running for Attorney General. As Governor I worked to limit and ban assault weapons and as Attorney General I plan to continue that.

In 2014, Sen. Raoul said attacks on my record were "a witch hunt." Now he's recycling those attacks on TV with utilities, tobacco kingpins and red-light camera companies footing the bill. Blind ambition? #ilag

Gov. Rauner’s veto of common-sense regulation of Illinois firearms dealers is appalling but not a surprise. Coming one week before our state’s primary election, it’s a reminder of the governor’s abdication of leadership, regardless of the harm done to all Illinois citizens.

I have worked tirelessly, in and out of office, to make our communities safe from gun violence. As Attorney General, I will challenge efforts by the Trump administration to weaken state regulations of firearms.

Regarding gun control: There is no higher or more urgent calling for an office that must be the lawyer for everyday people and the guardian of their well-being.
2
As Governor, I vetoed a $3 billion ComEd rate hike. Sen. Raoul voted to override the veto. As a result of this law, Illinois consumers have been burdened by higher rates.

All that money from utilities, red-light camera operators and other special interests has allowed Sen. Raoul to try a desperate attack. His campaign donors know that, as Attorney General, I will be the lawyer not for them, but for everyday people.

Sen. Raoul says he’s not for sale. Yet his campaign is bankrolled by big tobacco firms, utilities, banks and red-light camera operators. The Attorney General must fight businesses when they abuse everyday people. I will fulfill that duty every day.

Please see my statement about the Erika Harold controversy. As Attorney General, I will protect children from abusive situations and safeguard the legitimate adoption rights of gay couples.

On #InternationalWomansDay it is not only important to recognize women & their achievements today, but every day. As AG, I will stand up & fight with women against Trump & his ignorant rhetoric toward those who are pro-choice & his attempts to silence survivors of sexual assault.

Where was Sen. Raoul while 26 sexual harassment allegations drew no action in Springfield? Not working to find an inspector general, that’s for sure. Sen. Raoul stood by while this investigative post of the Legislature was vacant for three years. Whose side was he on?

Trump's efforts to demonize immigrants and divide Americans cannot be tolerated. That's why I was the first Governor nationwide to end agreements that bound local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE's "Secure Communities" deportation program.

Thank you 43rd and 2nd Ward Democrats for hosting today’s forum. The Attorney General must be a lawyer for the people — not the campaign donors. That means standing up for workers, veterans, and those with disabilities.

Tired of politics as usual? As Attorney General, I will support a referendum for a constitutional amendment imposing ethics standards on our General Assembly. Why expect lawmakers to regulate themselves? Let more sunshine into our democracy.
