There's much at stake in elections, esp. for #QueensDA, who currently cages 100,000+ people every year. But how we campaign must itself reflect the justice we seek. Queens DSA has endorsed two candidates, both were movement candidates by any definition. Both contributed to building and organizing the movement we all want to build. Both went through an exhaustive endorsement processes. Such candidates & campaigns are the best education.

I think that's a very good interpretation. Still, I take it that Tia's point, w/ which I agree, is that a higher standard of movement candidacies is one in which those most harmed by the status quo are clearly won over by the candidate. By that standard, we haven't yet succeeded.

Changing where people are often requires getting to complicated alliances with folks who don't accept most of our vision. I think the Caban campaign in particular moved us at least twenty years forward to a place I didn't think possible.

I don't disagree w/ the statements you've made. Where we disagree, I think, is whether to treat them as premises for the conclusion that those candidacies were therefore movement candidates, at least according to the standard implied by Tia's tweet (which is what I was citing).
