NYC density tops out at 50k/sqmi in some areas, avg 25k/sqmi. SF density is 18k/sqmi, which is lower, for example, than Somerville MA or W. Hollywood

Boston *also* needs to be denser, rents doubled in the last decade. But comparing the relative densities of SF, Chicago, and Boston is kinda meaningless b/c of urban boundaries

(e.g., the borders of Chicago include large areas which are effectively depopulated warzones... the economically functioning parts of the city are pretty heavily built-up, tho, and they're always ready to keep building)
