In an outer wing you could have a filtration for younger men who are being intiated into the trusted circle but there MUST be some mystery and some activity that goes far beyond just "well being lonely is dumb"

The problems with my recommendations are it's a process of creative uncovering so actually establishing it is difficult and that there are extreme capital and strategic considerations that become relevant after it evolves from a bar group

However high trust, good intelligence (trade craft not really IQ - though that's a decent trait), and cross generation contacts/hiring ability is super powerful and desirable because of community and ability to actually alter local affairs

imho the key point here is that this is a reason to value "hobbies" rather than simple to treat them as a waste of time - as you say, "why not associate?" is not a good reason for an association, but it's a good reason to nurture a ground for association
