Sometimes I think I'd like to have two copies of every book. One to keep pure, and another to fill with notes, arrows, and lines. But this is not a reasonable approach.
I don’t mind marking up paperbacks, or even most hardback books. I do hesitate, though, with particularly nice editions, and won’t mark something with any collectors’ value.
Much of my trepidation comes from my gruesome handwriting. The very sight of it fills me with something like loathing.
Time to take up calligraphy.
When I was young, my parents decided that I must be left handed. My writing was impossibly bad after all. For some time I was forced to use my left hand in all things. It only made things worse. I returned to my right hand after that.
That is, in a way, rather impressive.
The Chinese are not left-handed. If born left-handed, they become ambidextrous.
