one under-explored element in feminism/-ization is that small family sizes mean vastly more fathers with no male heir to carry on family traditions

whether it's a business, a cultural tradition like hunting or literature, a literary legacy: a father is strongly inclined to train at least one of his children to carry on his way of life, and w/o suitable male scion he will default to daughter

(btw this suggests that earlier marriage could roll back some of the damage: if he has an adolescent son-in-law to take under his wing, no incentive to push daughter into masculine specialization)
