Every intro to sociology, semiotics, discourse analysis, etc, begins with the assertion that by understanding society you can better 'resist' it. This is the default orientation of modern academia.

Philosophy, sociology, etc, are aware that open-ended 'resistance' to social norms can only end in nihilism, since they talk about it all the time, but they do nothing to counteract it. You even have to 'resist' last decade's attempt at resistance.
