Jesus cannot be separated from his Jewishness. He is the Lion of Judah. The "new & better Adam," the "new & better David." See Matthew 1: his genealogy is listed for this purpose. The fact that Jesus is a Jew is integral to the story of redemption. 2/

Jesus is the fulfillment of JEWISH prophecy. He would not be relevant without the existence of Israel & Jewish Scripture. Gentiles are "adopted," "grafted in." We weren't part of the picture for a looong time (though, yes, always a part of God's eternal plan) 3/

Now, we know from Scripture that though Jesus is the perfect fulfillment of every OT prophecy, only a "remnant" of Jews will believe. Most will continue to reject the gospel. This is prophesied in Jer & Isaiah. As Romans 9 says, "not all Israel is Israel." 4/

BUT, as Gentiles saved by grace - by nothing of our own doing (Eph 2:8-9) - our sincere desire is that ALL will come to know the truth of Christ, especially our Jewish brothers & sisters, whom Christ came for in the first place. 5/

So, your anti-semitism, @pnehlen, comes from both a lack of sincerity in your faith & a lack of understanding. “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.” Romans 10:12

Allie let me educate you. Are you aware that "Jewish" today means people who follow the Talmud, right? It doesn't have the same meaning as when you talk about people who lived in Israel at Jesus' time. What did Jesus say about the Pharisees? Pharisees = origin of modern Judaism.

It's correct and Jesus has very direct criticisms of incipient Talmudism/rabbinic (Judaism) in the New Testament. You know the line? He was not a Saduccee either, he was likely affiliated with a different sect. That said, rabbinic Judaism has been brutal against Karaites

      Replying to @bronzeagemantis @AltRabbi and

Jesus said as follows: “The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So practice and observe everything they tell you." (Then he went on to complain about their actions.) The point here is that he agreed that the rabbis' interpretation of the law was correct.

      Replying to @BaruchKogan @bronzeagemantis and

“Moses’ seat” is comparable to “the place of honor” in parallel passages. The practice was for high-status members of the community to be given responsibility for reading Torah on the lord’s day

      Replying to @QuasLacrimas @BaruchKogan and

Jesus is saying the Pharisees are status-whores but scripture is scripture no matter who reads it. Exact opposite of giving status to auricular traditions / impostures
