Alright. Both of you have a severe lack of knowledge when it comes to Christian theology, though @ElliottRHams I will excuse, since he's not attempting to rep Christianity, like you're failing to adequately do, @pnehlen . 1/ https://twitter.com/pnehlen/status/955658268176764928 …
but regardless, the talmud did not exist at the time so no one followed a religion based on the talmud until several centuries after Jesus we should call the ppl who lived in Judea judeans to avoid conflating them with the Talmudists (=jews)

Anyone can pretend that their medieval religious texts are records of oral teachings going back to the time of Jesus - or even back to the time of Moses. Just don’t expect anyone else to accept your heresies as any earlier than they actually are.

some oral tradition, perhaps... but not the talmud. maybe we should put it this way: the apocryphal books of the old testament are a better guide to the non-orthodox views of ancient judeans than any amount of speculation about customs they shared by word of mouth

look, let me put it this way: samaritans, essenes and talmudic rabbis are all developments from the religion of the Torah If you call the ppl who follow the Talmud “jews” you need another name for the religion of the Torah (I prefer “judaeans”).

Christians do not reject the truth of the Torah; Talmudists reject both the religious practices of Judea and the Judean priesthood’s interpretation of Judea’s law code
