With all due respect to @Outsideness and AI, the most powerful political event of the 21st century will be entrance into the post-antibiotic age. The speed and severity of the backlash after that point will shock us beyond what we can imagine.

...why? 100% of infants surviving to adulthood vs 20% is a big change in human lifestyle also, geographically-specific mutations are mostly infection-related (insect vs respiratory)

Yes this is accurate... We are breeding weaker future generations, because there's almost zero natural selection for immunity

generic immune system strength is linked to height and iq, plus symmetry. so there is still some selection, but it is worrisome - nearly as bad as c-sections

the fraction of women who can give birth without surgical intervention is falling - we’d be in for a nasty shock in the event of a collapse

Biggest problem imo is birth age-- I noticed single mothers who gave birth in late teens/early 20s have recovered their bodies and often look gr8, women who give birth in mid 30s, bodies just cannot recover and they become whales. I imagine older group stuggles w/natty birth too
