Well the Apostle's Creed and Nicean Creed aren't exactly "sola scriptura" now are they?
-
The True Interpretation of Sola Scriptura is that everything said by the Holy Spirit has been said and nothing more shall be added to the canon of his speech, thus that shall be no more Revelation till the end times.
-
The apostles and the writers of the New Testament were not philosophers constructing truths on the old, they were making Declarations of new Revelations as part of the Testament of the New Covenant.
-
And even St. Paul said, "Whether I speak to you or it is an Angel who claims to be of the Lord, test what is said against the Scriptures lest it be false"
-
Though we can add to scripture no new canon and no revelation, it is still left as an exercise to the Church to complete the Understanding of all possible knowledge within the horizon of the limits of human reason regarding the Divine.
-
The Catholics go too far in holding up these as binding things even binding the flock to their own errors and holding those as necessary for salvation.
