That sentence makes very little sense. Imagine a gay man or woman firing a straight man or woman for being straight... because they’re sexual orientation dictates their cultural beliefs. Wouldn’t that be absurd?
well, you see where you're leading the conversation! only equals can have equal rights. heavy drinkers are equal to non-drinkers in some respects (eg right to vote) but not in others (eg right to be employed)

Wrong. A heavy drinker has every right to be employed. If their drinking impedes their performance though, then there’s an issue. A person being gay is not a person on a substance. You are trying to equate very different things. It’s very misleading and very dishonest of you.

You are entirely missing the point and are being purposefully misleading by now. Alcohol is a substance that impairs the ability of an individual. Being gay is a biological matter that impairs no one. What you are trying to equate does not work.
