It does not take a smart person to know that that is very basis of discrimination. Imagine a Mormon firing a catholic because they don’t believe Christ came to America. Or a Muslim firing a Lutheran Mohammed is not their profit.

That sentence makes very little sense. Imagine a gay man or woman firing a straight man or woman for being straight... because they’re sexual orientation dictates their cultural beliefs. Wouldn’t that be absurd?

if you were, say, running a nambla chapter and you were afraid a straight "ally" might narc on you to the feds, would you hire him?

simply depends on mission of institution. Alcoholics Anonymous doesn't hire heavy drinkers! Other institutions don't care about drinking but do want chaste and decent employees

AA is a private organization that does not receive federal funding. They can pretty much do what they want in regards of hiring and firing.

do you think the equal opportunity employment commission only regulates government employees? b/c that's a pretty weird mistake to make, given the topic of our convo

No, I do not. Not sure what would lead you to that conclusion. I was simply pointing out that AA is a self funded, private 501c3 that does not receive federal or state funding. So, like a church, they can do what they want regarding hiring and firing practices.

so you're saying binge-drinkers don't have equal rights? smdh. They're americans too, my fellow

“They gave no explanation”.... let’s see if we can sum it up. THEY HATE ANYTHING THE BIBLE HATES! The majority of the Supreme Court doesn’t actually want equal rights.

well, you see where you're leading the conversation! only equals can have equal rights. heavy drinkers are equal to non-drinkers in some respects (eg right to vote) but not in others (eg right to be employed)

Wrong. A heavy drinker has every right to be employed. If their drinking impedes their performance though, then there’s an issue. A person being gay is not a person on a substance. You are trying to equate very different things. It’s very misleading and very dishonest of you.

not at Alcoholics Anonymous, lol. And the q of whether they are or not is adjudicated by the EEOC, and not simply for groups which use public money

You are entirely missing the point and are being purposefully misleading by now. Alcohol is a substance that impairs the ability of an individual. Being gay is a biological matter that impairs no one. What you are trying to equate does not work.
