i think in that model crossgenerational transfers would have mild effect (ricardian equiv) or even positive due to redistribution

well, not if you get it out in the form of a rly pricy cancer treatment- that won't cause substitution out of consumption to kids

anyway, whichever way these models break I think it's the heuristic that had a meaningful impact: from "my children will take care of me" to "my entitlements will..."
