Should I use illustrations at all? Do they actually make it easier/more fun to read? Or just longer to load on mobile?

an occasional illustration is good; makes a blog more visually interesting, instead of just having walls of text.

there may be a way to force an image onto its own line for mobile, but I don't know off the top of my head.
