The old scenario beloved by the S. American pre-Clovis archaeologists is canoes/rafts following along the northern littoral of the Pacific. (Presumably fishing or seal-hunting like the Inuit later)

I used to think this was nutty but, once the impossible has been excluded and all that. (If it's correct it also suggests maybe Solutrean idea wasn't so dumb after all.)
