I'm reminded of how in the supplement to Jerome's Illustrious Men, it was written about one writer that "He wrote, in barely tolerable semi-versified language... he discoursed in a sufficiently wretched and so to speak, gross fashion, to [pagans'] stupefaction and our despair."

I’m suspicious of some parts of his theology but I love reading him. I suspect if the style seems grating you’re not used to the language and you should skim some pagans

They use similar terminology and, short of learning greek, getting a vague idea of like... what cathectic causes and perturbations are will help you focus

(Also perhaps you are skipping straight to the serious theology? He builds up v slowly from comparing himself to a bee to, well, hard stuff
