this business you’re quoting is the core of it actually - read carefully what he’s saying
not acknowledging that cultural traditions may have insights that rational critiques misses. but that they can only have them insofar as they are continuous and extremely old (in effect, permanent)
so in effect he is creating a high bar, one tradition cannot possible leap over: any tradition’s response to a new situation will be discontinuous with it’s ordinary, older responses, and can then be disqualified on those grounds
is habermas sympathetic to any traditions concerning god, folk, family? no of course not - these norms have changed over the past century, that’s not *really* a tradition, why in many ways my bolshevist opinions are more traditional than that... it’s venom
