To those who favor limits on between-nation migration: why do we not hear more from you on within-nation migration? The cases aren't exactly alike, but are similar enough that those who often favor between limits should also favor within limits in many cases. What are those case?

There is a case for free movement, and a case against free movement at many different scales. The costs of restriction are high at small scale, costs of movement high on large. “The nation” is the name of the scale where everyone living inside is granted freedom of movement

There may be a case for giving smaller scales equivalent local rights but also, by the same token, giving away all sorts of quasi-feudal privileges, or carving out statelets for those areas

It’s no different in principle from a currency zone. There are problems with having a different $€£ in every town. Problems with having same over whole continent

Eurozone too large for sure; does not mean West Germany was too large for Deutschmark. Same with citizenship
