how do you - find a therapist who's a good fit - know a therapist is a good fit - establish a relationship with a good therapist ^ specifically re: that last one, WHAT DOES IT EVEN MEAN, WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL, do i need to be asking questions about their dog, establish a rapport?

I struggle sometimes with recommending people go to therapy these days unless I can help them find a good one, but I want people looking for therapy to at least know what is "normal bad" vs "worse than normal." Proper expectations can save lives. daystareld.com/the-bad-therap

Generally I'd say that it's actually the therapist's job, not the client's, to "establish a relationship." All the client is supposed to do is show up and be as honest and vulnerable as they feel comfortable being.
