Just remembered the several times in vietnam, I was stuck in a traffic jam that could CLEARLY and EASILY be avoided by basic line/traffic etiquette, and I singlehandedly solved the jam by putting my bike and body in front of cars so they couldn’t move until I decided they could

Cannot count the number of times I’ve been in a situation in Korea or Vietnam where there was no line, just a huddle of people trying to push their way to the front and a wait that coulda taken 2 minutes took 10

I literally ran lessons on this with my history class on slow days, drawing traffic situations on the board and asking them to figure out where the pressure points were, what they could do to help clear it up.

One student came in basically jumping up and down in excitement to let me know he and his friend had cleared up a jam over the weekend, just by paying attention to where they could block and direct cars instead of letting everyone rush and cram their way to the front

Probably the most useful thing I managed to teach someone at that school. I don’t imagine the students got a whole lot of use out of the American History lessons, once the exam was done
