i’ve been circling around this sense of anger being unusually blocked and unusually hard to unblock among people i know. some gestures in this direction: anger is the political emotion, anger is the legal emotion, anger is the conflict and dispute and justice emotion

i think that in an important sense anger is the most tightly socially regulated emotion; the state monopoly on violence meaningfully constrains our ability to express anger through violence, only allows it in very specific directions

unblocking anger is a political project with political consequences. anger contains grievances and assertions about other people and entities, and their wrongs and harms and injustices. allowing and respecting anger involves political action, in a broad sense
