every time i see mindfulness or therapy stuff in a mainstream context (magazine cover, youtube ad) i just want to throw the whole concept of self-improvement into a fire and learn how to build log cabins or something

this is the kind of shit i’m talking about. i do not trust this in the slightest. why have the Powers That Be decided it’s now in their interests to push this kind of messaging? i can’t imagine anything good

I enjoy the implication that my brain is in the way of the experiences that are produced by my brain. Gonna saw a hole in my skull, hook up the shop vac, and experience some Authentic Higher Reality.

To be fair, it seems less likely that the Powers That Be have decided anything in particular, and more likely that they just wanted some new content for their site, a writer pitched something the writer was interested in and the editors were like "sure sounds interesting why not"
