towards the end of The Amber Spyglass (spoilers) the characters stumble across someone who is supposed to be God but he’s been drained of his powers and has regressed into a childlike state. he’s described as turning towards kindness like a sunflower turns towards light

yeah this was a scene I remember quite distinctly
honestly, Pullman's novels is some of the best YA fiction and despite a movie, tv series, numerous awards still criminally underrated
