from the faces on the books alone you’d think black girls make up 70% of the population, meanwhile apparently 2% of the actual population of this city is black. so who are these books *for*??? meanwhile redmond is 36% asian and there’s *zero* asian representation

i have much more interesting anxieties to pass on to the next generation, such as: “is god dead?” “have we forgotten how to run civilization?” “have we called up that which we don’t know how to put down?” gotta be worth a book deal or two

I think it's great. It's a courtesy heads-up that the world's going to look at them in a particular way but they have inner worth despite that. That's probably better than them being unaware and then being completely blindsided and then unable to cope.
