i think a ton of what passes for “racism” on the american internet at this point would be more accurately described as antiantiracism. this is why you get the thing about “wow what an incredibly racially diverse group of racists”

people (of many races!) are deliberately “racist” in an edgelord way to filter out and get back at joyless hall monitors, it’s not that hard to understand. they don’t hate black people or w/e, they hate nagging and guilt-tripping. it’s a form of protest

This phenomenon is real. I think the word “reactionary” sums it up well.
The whole back-and-forth, though, masks the possibility of discussing how society should respond to / mitigate the social construct of racism, and whether this can / should be done in a “colorblind” way.

The answer depends on the degree of racism and the ease with which it can be characterized, imo; you can’t answer how to respond without actually looking at society.
