i tried to watch bo burnham’s inside recently and i couldn’t make it past the first 20m or so. i got really bad vibes from it. not just that he was in a lot of pain but like actively filled with contempt for himself and his audience. the song with the sock felt demonic

yeah as someone who walked around most of my life feeling that way, I really appreciated it but I won't rewatch it I'm very hopeful that he heals one day, and yeah, the fmesy he makes on the way up will be gold

I'm no stranger to self loathing and appreciate seeing it in art but the way he presented it felt self perpetuating more than anything else and tied to morality in icky ways
