i feel like there's some simple conceptual shift that would make me happier but i haven't made it yet. something like giving up on being able to assign every person in the economy a meaningful "net worth"

look up richard werner's paper on credit creation. banks literally create money out of nothing and have done so for a very long time

The big difference between USD and other assets is that the value of USD rests on a bedrock foundation of guns.
Your country doesn't like USD? How about the US invades your country and forces you to buy oil in USD.
