one of my least nice opinions is that i think questions like "what the hell is wrong with me???" are serious questions that deserve serious investigation, and that it's not actually a kindness to paper over them with platitudes like "i'm okay exactly as i am"

I wonder, too, if this could feel clearer in some language other than english?
learning more abt indigenous languages is tripping me out, they've loads of emotional nuance... i.e. in some you can't say "I am angry" but rather only "anger is upon me" as temporarily as weather

I don’t know about languages qua language, but cultural history might be interesting there,
Rob Burbea notes a few times that in the Pali Canon for example, no one seems to ask buddha questions about things like the “inner critic”,
That seems to have crept in post-axial age 🤷🏼♂️
