one of my least nice opinions is that i think questions like "what the hell is wrong with me???" are serious questions that deserve serious investigation, and that it's not actually a kindness to paper over them with platitudes like "i'm okay exactly as i am"

tend to agree but also feel like... the solution to many of those real, deeper problems is (genuinely) loving and accepting yourself guess there's a way the low hanging aspects of it can be used to keep a comfortable distance from the reality rather than as part of real change

maybe it's that the real work of love and acceptance requires understanding and unwinding/transforming those negative thoughts with love rather than dismissing them before you understand them?
